Tabby - Brown - Phantom - Medium - Young - Male - Cat
Phantom is currently being kept indoors only, in a spare bedroom. He is a very shy cat, a little over a year old, and moves to under the bed when the door is opened. He is a very sweet cat. Even the vet made a note that though he was a very nervous cat he was not aggressive during his vet visit which included a nail trim and blood draw for the FeLV test. With some coaxing he even moves back out in the main area though still keeping his distance. When his other 2 siblings have been rubbing and getting pets a few times he has joined them. They seem to give him some confidence, at which point he allowed some pets. Phantom will need time and patience to be able trust more. Once he is given greater access to the home he is in, he will have an opportunity to feel more confident about his surroundings and maybe gain a little more confidence. Having grown up an indoor/outdoor kitten and cat and then losing his outdoor access, it is only natural for a cat to have a slightly skittish nature. With so many siblings he appears to have been one of the more submissive ones in the group. For someone willing to take on the challenge to see if they can't convince me to come willingly for pets, I let on at a recent adoption event that I LOVE to have my belly rubbed. For a moment, or several, I lost my bravado exterior, rolled onto my back and the next thing I knew, my foster mom was rubbing my belly. It felt so good that I didn't even mind, much less roll over, when cameras seemed to appear out of nowhere. I thought the paparazzi had arrived! To adopt you must first complete an adoption application and either come to an adoption event or arrange to meet the cat in its foster home. We do not do same day adoptions so, generally, we can only adopt within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
