Hi, my name is Stripes. I am a great big Orange Chicken. I may look like a cat, but I assure you, I am a chickenPlease allow me to tell you how I became poultry: I was born around xxxx and came from a home with 9 other cats. Years ago, the MCSPCA helped my owner get all my cat friends spayed/neutered and vaccinated. (There were more than 10 at that time.) Then in March xxxx, my owner contacted the MCSPCA, desperate for help in locating homes for me and my 9 cat roommates. My owner was living with his mom, who was then moved to assisted living, and the house we were living in was sold almost immediately. My owner didn't have anywhere to go, much less any place that would allow him to bring 10 cats, so the MCSPCA scrambled and found foster homes for most of my cat friends, then placed the remaining cats in boarding until foster space became available. Because there were so many other cats living in the house, and because my owner was busy with his sick mother, I didnt get a lot of attention. Now, with my new foster mom, I hide until she extracts me. Once I come out, I purr and purr and head butt and am so thrilled to be getting attention. I am so surprised to be loved that I gaze at my foster mom with shocked adoration. My foster mom says I blossom a little more every day. I just dont know how to ask for attention, so if you adopt me, you will have to take the effort to coax me out of my chicken shell and turn me into a purring puddle of feline goo. If you adopt me, you will have to work to bring me out, but I will reward you with love and the satisfaction of knowing that you helped remind a cat who lost everything, that the human race is loving and kind, but, hey, no pressure.I get along with all other cats (I hide from them) and I have perfect litter box manners. If you are a cat person, who wants to put in a little work, I will be well worth the effort. Take a chance on me because I dont want to be a chicken any more. To adopt you must first complete an adoption application and either come to an adoption event or arrange to meet the cat in its foster home. We do not do same day adoptions so, generally, we can only adopt within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
